Dr. Devipriya
Assistant Professor
Department of Language & Literature
Dr Devipriya Prasad holds a Ph.D. from the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, National Institute of Technology, Puducherry. Her doctoral research examines post-2000s Disney cinema, interrogating how contemporary popular culture reimagines constructions of gender, agency, and identity in response to the shifting landscapes of global consumerism. Her broader areas of interest include feminist revisionist narratives in mythology and fairy tales, and the politics of narrative and memory in children’s literature. Her work is grounded in inclusive and intersectional perspectives on gender and representation.
In the classroom, Dr. Devipriya adopts participatory and inclusive approaches that foster critical thinking, empathy, and creativity. She engages students through a wide range of literary texts, from mythology, classics, and children’s literature to contemporary media and popular culture, encouraging them to explore questions of identity, culture, and social justice. Her pedagogy is grounded in dialogue, collaboration, and respect for diverse perspectives, envisioning higher education as a space for transformation and empowerment.
