Dr. Ananthavalli Ramesh

Dr. Ananthavalli Ramesh is alumnus of NITT and IITM. She has interdisciplinary domain expertise from engineering design, new product development, healthcare research to technology management. She has more than a decade of industry experience with Royal Enfield, GM, Volvo and Caterpillar. She is a trained six-sigma blackbelt and accelerated by sis-sigma council as a trainer. She has designed the curriculum for developed the curriculum for Mahatma Gandhi National Council for Rural Education for the rural MBA programs. Dr. Ananthavalli Ramesh is certified technical writer for Clinical Evaluation Report – medical devices. She coined the term ‘Concept Exploration Process’ as part of her M.S. (by Research) program at IITM to facilitate new product success. She worked closely with hospitals to deploy patient-engagement (patient centric care) as an outcome of her doctoral research at IITM.

Dr. Ananthavalli Ramesh nurtures technology-enabled entrepreneurship skill development to students and provide FDP to develop institute level entrepreneurship ecosystem.  She had worked on multiple government projects and implementations like RAMP, CSR projects. She has accumulated 11 years of experience in teaching and 10 years of experience in industry.

Industry Experience:

  • Caterpillar Eng. Design Centre (6 Sigma – Black belt)
    Designation: Six Sigma Black Belt 1
    Managed and trained cross-functional team for business quality improvement
    in terms of identifying new business opportunities, team deliverables, and business
    excellence. DMAIC process steps were followed to address business problems,
    employee empowerment, and process excellence for the captive unit.
  • Volvo Ltd. (Global Truck Chassis – Sweden, US, India)
    Designation: Assistant Project Manager, Chassis and Vehicle Dynamics Division
    Project leader to execute design changes on chassis, fifth wheel and
    tractor-trailer models for ‘Truck for India’ project. Product & process innovation was demonstrated for cost-saving measures regarding new product development. Worked in Sweden and USA to provide design services for Volvo and Mach trucks.
  • General Motors Tech. Centre (Mentoring Training)
    Designation: Design Engineer (Engine)
    Engineering design support for USA (GD&T) technical center. Accountable for
    mentoring technical training and organizing knowledge sharing sessions within-group and cross-functional team.
  • Royal Enfield (a unit of Eicher Ltd.)
    Designation: Assistant Manager - Projects (Engine)
    Designed and developed transistorized control ignition to enable
    electric start in Enfield Bullets by involving multiple stakeholders through the cross-functional team. Participated in the development of new-generation engines.
    Deployed FMEA for the product development process. Worked on ISO 9000 as a management representative for the 14000 certification process of the product development department.
