Alliance University continues to strengthen its global academic engagement by building partnerships that support meaningful research, knowledge exchange, and interdisciplinary learning. As part of this effort, the University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Chung Cheng University (CCU), Taiwan, marking an important step towards sustained international collaboration in research and academic development.
Memorandum of Understanding for Academic and Research Cooperation
The MoU between Alliance University and National Chung Cheng University establishes a structured framework for cooperation across key academic and research areas. The agreement creates new opportunities for joint research initiatives, faculty and student exchange programmes, and doctoral co-supervision. It also enables collaborative work in emerging and socially relevant domains such as artificial intelligence, smart systems, and sustainable development.
Through this partnership, both institutions aim to encourage the sharing of expertise, resources, and perspectives, supporting research that is interdisciplinary and globally connected. The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to addressing complex challenges through academic cooperation and long-term engagement.
Campus Visit by Dr. Pao-Ann Hsiung
As part of the MoU engagement, Alliance University hosted Dr. Pao-Ann Hsiung, Director of the Research Centre on AI and Sustainable Development at National Chung Cheng University. His visit to the campus formed an important component of the academic exchange envisioned under the partnership.
During his time at Alliance University, Dr. Hsiung engaged in detailed discussions on nature-based solutions and sustainability-driven campus initiatives. These conversations focused on how research can be applied to real-world contexts, particularly in areas related to environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
Student Engagement and Project Interactions
Dr. Hsiung also interacted with students across disciplines, where he reviewed and discussed innovative student projects. These interactions provided students with exposure to international research perspectives and offered valuable insights into how academic work can be aligned with global sustainability goals.
The sessions encouraged dialogue around problem-solving, applied research, and the role of emerging technologies in addressing societal and environmental challenges. Students benefited from the opportunity to present their ideas and receive feedback from an experienced international researcher.
Faculty and Research Scholar Interactions
In addition to student engagements, Dr. Hsiung met with faculty members and research scholars from various Centres of Excellence at Alliance University. These interactions focused on identifying interdisciplinary research opportunities and exploring possibilities for collaborative and translational research.
Discussions also examined pathways for sustainability-led innovation and the potential for joint research outputs with international relevance. The exchanges highlighted the value of cross-institutional collaboration in strengthening research quality and extending its impact beyond national boundaries.
Moving Forward
The MoU with National Chung Cheng University represents a meaningful step in Alliance University’s ongoing efforts to build purposeful global partnerships. By fostering academic exchange, interdisciplinary learning, and collaborative research, the University aims to support research that is relevant, responsible, and internationally connected.
This partnership reinforces Alliance University’s commitment to advancing research with purpose and to contributing thoughtfully to global academic and sustainability-focused conversations.
