The graduating cohort included undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, diploma, and executive postgraduate diploma students, reflecting the University’s multidisciplinary academic structure. The event reaffirmed Alliance University’s focus on education that combines academic learning with ethical awareness and social responsibility.
Academic Achievements and Degree Conferment
Degrees were conferred on 960 undergraduate students and 887 postgraduate students across various schools of the University. In addition, 10 doctoral degrees were awarded to research scholars, along with diplomas to 20 students from the performing arts programmes. Eighty-five students received executive postgraduate diplomas in management. The range of programmes represented at the Convocation reflected the diversity of academic pathways offered at the University.
The formal proceedings included the declaration of the Convocation by the Chancellor, the presentation of the Annual Report, and the awarding of degrees, doctoral citations, and medals. These segments marked the culmination of years of academic effort and engagement for the graduating students.
Address by the Chief Guest
The Convocation was delivered by the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Ms Justice Ananya Bandyopadhyay, Judge of the Calcutta High Court. In her address, Justice Bandyopadhyay spoke about graduation as a moment of responsibility rather than only celebration. She noted that students were being entrusted with knowledge, skills, and the obligation to act with integrity in their professional and public lives.
Drawing from her own experience in the judiciary, she spoke about the importance of ethical judgement, accountability, and the role of education in shaping one’s moral framework. She emphasised that education should extend beyond employability and enable individuals to reason, reflect, and respond to the needs of society.
Guests of Honour and Institutional Engagement
The ceremony was attended by Professor Rishikesha T. Krishnan, Professor of Strategy at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, and Dr Veerappan V, Chairman of SEMI India and ELCITA, and Co-founder and President of Tessolve Semiconductor. Their presence highlighted the University’s engagement with academic leadership and industry perspectives.
Both Guests of Honour represent long-standing contributions to management education, innovation, and technology-led growth. Their participation underscored the importance of dialogue between academia and industry as graduates prepare to enter professional environments that are increasingly complex and interconnected.
Commitment to Research and Innovation
The Convocation also reflected the University’s ongoing efforts to strengthen research and innovation. Over the past academic year, Alliance University expanded its focus on scholarly research, innovation initiatives, and patent-related work. The emerging Alliance University Research & Innovation Centre (AURIC) is intended to support research-led learning and address real-world challenges through applied knowledge.
This focus aims to ensure that graduates are not only recipients of degrees but also contributors to knowledge creation and problem-solving in their respective fields.
Looking Ahead
As the graduates move forward into careers across corporate, public service, legal, academic, and creative sectors, they carry with them the values and learning fostered during their time at the University. The Convocation served as a reminder of the responsibility that accompanies education and the role graduates play in shaping institutions and society.
