Ms. Manasi MS

Manasi MS is a researcher and educator specializing in English and Comparative Literature. Her academic interests centre on colonial and postcolonial studies, critical cartography, and visual cultures, with a strong commitment to interdisciplinary approaches in literary studies and humanities. She is currently a PhD in Comparative Literature and an MPhil in Translation Studies from the University of Hyderabad, as well as a Master’s degree in English from The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad.

Her doctoral research explores the history of mapping and cartographic practices in colonial India, while her MPhil examines the translation of knowledge into textbooks, particularly within institutional and pedagogical frameworks. With expertise in knowledge production, translation studies, and comparative cultural analysis, Manasi’s work critically engages with colonial documents, maps, and visual materials to interrogate the intersections of geography, power, and representation.

She has published her research in reputed journals such as Asian Studies Review and contributed chapters to edited volumes. She has also received several prestigious academic grants, including those offered by the Asian Studies Centre at Oxford University, the International Leverhulme Network, and the University of Glasgow, Scotland. She is currently working on a monograph based on her doctoral research, which examines critical cartography and the history of mapping in colonial India.
