Dr. Bhavana Chandran is an accomplished legal academic, researcher, and educator with a Ph.D. in Law and over a decade of experience in teaching, research, and academic administration. She holds multidisciplinary qualifications including B.A.LL.B., LL.M., and M.A. (English), and has consistently contributed to legal scholarship with a strong focus on constitutional law, tribal and indigenous rights, labour law, environmental governance, and the interface between law and technology.
She has an impressive research portfolio comprising numerous peer-reviewed journal publications, edited book contributions, and conference papers published in reputed national and international journals. Her scholarly work reflects both doctrinal depth and socio-legal relevance. In addition, she is the author of a published patent on an AI-based system for early detection of psychological distress and suicide prevention in educational institutions, demonstrating her engagement with interdisciplinary and technology-driven legal research
Dr. Chandran has actively served in institutional governance and statutory bodies, notably as Member Secretary of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC–POSH), where she has played a key role in ensuring compliance, gender sensitization, and grievance redressal in academic institutions. She has also functioned as Faculty Coordinator of the Legal Services Clinic, contributing to legal aid, community outreach, and experiential legal education for students.
Her academic career is complemented by strong leadership in organizing national and international conferences, faculty development programmes, and webinars. Known for her student-centric teaching approach, research mentorship, and commitment to social justice, Dr. Bhavana Chandran continues to contribute meaningfully to legal education, research, and institutional development.
