Mr. Sivamanithan S

Mr. Sivamanithan S is a legal academic and practitioner with a strong foundation in both legal education and litigation. He earned his Bachelor of Law (LL.B.) in 2006 and Master of Law (LL.M.) in 2008 from University Law College, Bangalore University, and successfully cleared the UGC-NET/JRF in 2009. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at NALSAR University of Law, focusing on the topic: “Critical Evaluation of Sub-Classification of Reservation in India.”
From 2010 to 2015, Mr. Sivamanithan served as an Assistant Professor of Law at Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), where he taught a wide range of subjects. His courses for undergraduate students included Labour Law, Land Acquisition Law, Air and Space Law, and Service Law, while at the postgraduate level, he handled Media Laws, Right to Information, Comparative Constitutional Law, and Public-Private Partnerships.
Post-2015, he transitioned to full-time independent legal practice in Bangalore, representing clients in diverse forums such as Civil and Criminal Courts, Consumer Forums, Labour Courts and Tribunals, Family Courts, the Central and State Administrative Tribunals, and various State Commissions, including the Karnataka State Human Rights Commission, SC/ST Commission, Women’s Commission, and Child Rights Commission.
In addition to litigation, Mr. Sivamanithan has engaged in human rights advocacy. He worked as an External Consultant with the Alternative Law Forum (ALF), Bangalore, where he played an active role in organizing fact-finding missions on cases involving human rights violations, caste-based abuse, custodial deaths and torture, encounter killings, and honour killings.
His career reflects a deep commitment to both legal education and social justice, combining rigorous academic experience with impactful field work and legal representation.
Conferences and Seminars:
- Participated and presented a paper on Reservation policy in Educational Institution in India: A philosophical Approach in light of Judicial Pronouncement in an International Conference on Global Vision 2020 organised by ENVIRONMENT ADVISORY FOR SUSTAINABLE TRUST in collaboration with St IGNATIUS COLLEGE OF EDUCATION on 3rd and 4th May, 2013.
- Participated and Presented a paper titled, "A Theoretical Background for Realizing Right to Food", in an International Conference on" Right to Food", Organised by Jaipur National University, School of Law and Governance, Jaipur on 27th and 28th April, 2013
- Participated in the International Seminar on "Journey of Women Empowerment: Miles to Go", organised by Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar on 24-25th March, 2012.
- Participated and Presented a paper titled " FDI in Insurance: Preventing welfare and Promoting Collateral Damage", in an International Conference organised by SAARCLAW CENTRE at NAALSAR, University of Law, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh on 5th and 6th April, 2013
