Dr. Shrabani Mukherjee

Dr. Shrabani Mukherjee is an accomplished economist with more than two decades of experience spanning academia, public policy research, and consultancy. She earned her Ph.D. in Economics from the Centre for Economic Studies and Planning (CESP), Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Her areas of expertise include Game Theory, Microeconomics, Financial Inclusion, Public Finance, and the Economics of Education. Over the course of her career, she has held academic positions at several distinguished institutions, including Shiv Nadar University Chennai, Symbiosis International University, Madras School of Economics, and BITS Pilani, where she has taught and mentored undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students.
In addition to her academic contributions, Dr. Mukherjee has been actively engaged in policy-oriented research and consultancy with leading national organizations such as the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council, the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER), and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). She was a member of the research team that provided technical inputs to the Fifth State Finance Commission of Tamil Nadu, particularly in property tax reforms.
Dr. Mukherjee has successfully secured and executed research grants from prominent national and international funding agencies, including NABARD, IDRC, and SEBI. Her research has made significant contributions to the fields of financial inclusion, rural development, public finance, and higher education, and has been published in reputed Scopus- and Web of Science-indexed journals. She has contributed extensively to public discourse through opinion articles and policy commentaries published in leading media platforms such as Policy Circle, The Times of India, Financial Express, DT Next, and The Economic Times. She has served as a reviewer for international peer-reviewed journals and has delivered numerous invited lectures, workshops, and Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) on research methodology, quantitative techniques, and applied economic analysis. Her teaching portfolio encompasses Microeconomics, Game Theory, Public Economics, Econometrics.
