In observance of World Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Alliance Youth Red Cross, in collaboration with the Alliance Centre for Women Empowerment, organised a Cancer Awareness Talk and Screening Programme on Friday, 10 October 2025, at the Central Campus of Alliance University. The event aimed to raise awareness about breast and cervical cancer, promote preventive healthcare, and encourage regular medical screening among students, faculty, and staff.
Awareness Session and Expert Talks
The programme began with an inaugural session and awareness talk held at Seminar Hall – 3, LC-1, from 8:45 AM to 9:45 AM. The session featured insightful presentations by eminent oncologists from Narayana Health Care and Christian Medical College, Vellore. The speakers discussed the importance of early detection, regular screening, and lifestyle habits that contribute to long-term health. They emphasised that early diagnosis plays a key role in improving treatment outcomes and reducing the risks associated with breast and cervical cancer.
The session also provided an opportunity for participants to engage in meaningful discussions with the experts. Questions related to symptoms, self-examination, and access to healthcare were addressed, making the session informative and interactive.
Free Medical Check-up and Screening
Following the awareness session, a free medical check-up and screening camp was organised between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. The camp offered Mammogram Tests and Pap Smear Tests, encouraging participants to take proactive steps towards maintaining their health. The screenings were conducted by healthcare professionals who guided participants on follow-up care and preventive measures.
The initiative reflected Alliance University’s commitment to promoting a culture of health and well-being on campus, ensuring that awareness translates into action through accessible medical support.
