The Department of General Management at the Alliance School of Business, Alliance University, organised a workshop titled “Rhythms of Life: Breath, Water and Sound” on 10 October 2025 at the Alfresco venue, Central Campus. The session, conducted under the Universal Human Values (UHV) course, was designed for first-semester BBA and B.Com students from the July 2025 batch. Around 150 students participated in this interactive session aimed at enhancing physical health, emotional balance, and mindfulness through experiential learning.
Purpose of the Workshop
The workshop sought to help students understand the connection between natural elements—breath, water, and sound—and their role in nurturing overall well-being. It aimed to promote awareness of simple practices that can be integrated into daily life to cultivate mindfulness, emotional stability, and inner harmony.
Speakers and Facilitators
The session featured Ms. Hetal Mehta Pendse, Master Coach, Leadership Trainer, and Engagement Specialist from the Art of Living, Bengaluru, and Dr. Balaji S. K. Swaminathan, Associate Professor, Department of General Management, Alliance School of Business. The event was coordinated by Dr. Mounica Vallabhaneni and Dr. Shanti Janipella from the Department of General Management.
Session Highlights
The event began with a welcome address by Dr. Mounica Vallabhaneni, who spoke about the relevance of emotional wellness and mental discipline in academic and professional growth. This was followed by the lamp lighting ceremony, symbolising the spread of awareness and positive energy among participants.
Ms. Hetal Mehta Pendse conducted a series of engaging activities and guided exercises that helped students experience the connection between breathing patterns, mindfulness, and emotional regulation. She demonstrated simple yet effective techniques for reducing stress and enhancing focus. Dr. Balaji S. K. Swaminathan led a session on guided breathing and mindfulness, allowing students to experience inner calm and improved concentration. The interactive format encouraged reflection, with students sharing their experiences and takeaways from the session.
Conclusion and Reflections
The workshop concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Shanti Janipella, followed by a Sapling Presentation jointly conducted by the faculty coordinators as a token of appreciation for the speakers. The sapling symbolised growth, sustainability, and the nurturing of inner strength—values central to the theme of the session.
The “Rhythms of Life” workshop effectively complemented the objectives of the Universal Human Values course, reinforcing the idea that mindfulness, emotional regulation, and clarity of thought are vital to leadership, innovation, and effective decision-making.
