The National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell of Alliance University commemorated the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on 15 April 2026 at the University campus in Bengaluru. The event was organised as a reflective and participative engagement to familiarise students with the values of equality, liberty, fraternity, and justice associated with Dr. Ambedkar’s vision.
The programme began with the administration of the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Pledge, where students and faculty members collectively affirmed their commitment to constitutional values and social responsibility. The pledge set the tone for the event, encouraging participants to reflect on their role in contributing to an inclusive and informed society.
The inaugural session featured an address by the Chief Guest, Dr. Govindswamy, who spoke about the life and contributions of Dr. Ambedkar. His address highlighted the significance of education in addressing social and economic challenges, emphasising its role in shaping individual and collective progress. The session encouraged students to consider the relevance of these ideas in contemporary contexts.
Following the address, the NSS Cell conducted a series of literary and creative competitions, including essay writing in Kannada and English, elocution in both languages, quiz, and poster making. Students participated actively, demonstrating their understanding and interpretation of the themes associated with Dr. Ambedkar’s work. Kartik Cholappa Bilagi secured first place in Essay Kannada and Quiz, while Tejas Kumar C secured first place in Elocution Kannada and Poster Making. Other students, including Navanith S, Vaibhavi, A. Rajalakshmi, Ankit Dubey, Chandra Mouli K A, P. Akshaya, Arvind, and B Preethi, were also recognised for their performances. Special appreciation was extended to K Keerthika and C Kusuma.
The event was coordinated by Professor Kasaniya Naik, with guidance from Programme Officer Dr. Rathnakara Acharya and Faculty Coordinator Dr. Chetan Salke. NSS Chief and Anchor Maneesh P. Shetty conducted the proceedings, supported by NSS volunteers who contributed to the organisation of the programme.>
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Maneesh P. Shetty, acknowledging the contributions of the Chief Guest, faculty members, organisers, and students. The Ambedkar Jayanti commemoration provided a platform for reflection, participation, and engagement with constitutional values, reinforcing the importance of education and social awareness within the academic environment.
