26 June, 2025

Alliance University observed the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking with a programme held in collaboration with Anekal Police. The observance aimed to raise awareness about the impact of drug abuse and encourage preventive action through education and community engagement. Students, faculty members, and police officials came together to support this vital cause and take a firm stand against drug abuse.
Observance and Purpose of the Day
The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is observed every year on 26 June. The United Nations established it to strengthen global efforts in addressing drug-related issues. The day serves as a reminder of the need to raise awareness about the consequences of drug abuse on individuals, families, and society. It also highlights the importance of taking preventive measures and providing support for those affected.
Awareness Session by Inspector Tippeswamy
As part of the observance, Alliance University welcomed Inspector Tippeswamy from Anekal Police Station, who addressed the students through an awareness session. Drawing from his field experience, he spoke about the risk factors that lead to drug use, the legal consequences of drug-related offences, and the broader impact on society. His session included real-life examples and an open dialogue with students, focusing on the importance of informed decision-making and responsible behaviour. The interaction helped students understand the seriousness of drug abuse and encouraged them to think critically about its consequences.
Rally to Promote a Drug-Free Message
Following the session, a rally was organised in and around the campus. Students carried banners, held posters, and raised slogans that promoted the message of a drug-free society. The rally aimed to spread awareness among the community and encourage collective responsibility. The active participation of students demonstrated the strength of education and awareness in shaping community values and actions. Through the rally, the message of rejecting drugs and choosing a healthy path was communicated with clarity and resolve.
Conclusion
The observance concluded with a shared commitment from all participants to stand against drug abuse. The combined efforts of the university, police officials, and students served as a reminder that awareness and cooperation are essential in addressing drug-related challenges. By taking part in such initiatives, students become informed citizens and contribute to building a safer and healthier society.
