Alliance University observed Hindi Diwas on 16 September 2025 with a cultural and intellectual programme organised by the NSS Cell and the Department of Student Support Services. The event took place at Seminar Hall No. 2, Learning Centre – 1, and brought together students, faculty, and guests to celebrate the richness of the Hindi language through thoughtful activities and performances.
Inaugural Session
The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, Capt. Dr. Prabhu V. Upase, Professor and Head of the Department of Hindi at Government First Grade College, Channapatna. This was followed by the inaugural address delivered by Dr. Liju Jacob Kuriakose, Assistant Dean of the Alliance School of Liberal Arts.
In his keynote address, Capt. Dr. Upase reflected on the continued relevance of Hindi in the digital age and spoke about the importance of language in connecting people and preserving cultural identity.
Cultural and Literary Events
The celebration featured a range of performances and competitions that highlighted the creativity of students and faculty. A Hindi Kavita Path (poetry recitation) provided a platform for artistic expression, while an elocution competition centred on the theme “Relevance of Hindi in the Digital Age.” Participants spoke on how language continues to shape thought, communication, and culture in contemporary times.
Musical performances added vibrancy to the programme, with songs drawn from classical, folk, and contemporary traditions. A spirited round of Hindi Antakshari, a popular team-based game, encouraged interaction and participation, creating an atmosphere of enjoyment and collaboration.
Award Ceremony and Closing
Certificates and prizes were presented to the winners of the various competitions by the Chief Guest. The programme concluded with an interactive session, Chai pe Charcha, where students and faculty engaged in informal discussions over refreshments, accompanied by Hindi music in the background.
Dr. Vivekanand Jagannath Sajjan, Assistant Professor, delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of the organisers, participants, and guests.
Conclusion
The Hindi Diwas celebration at Alliance University offered an opportunity to honour the richness of the Hindi language while fostering cultural exchange and intellectual engagement. Through speeches, performances, and discussions, the event highlighted the role of language in shaping shared identity and community.
