Alliance University organised a guest lecture on “The Role of Hindi in Glocal Business Strategies”. The session brought together experts from academia and industry to discuss the growing importance of Hindi in business communication, administration, and technology. The event aimed to help students understand how language skills can contribute to effective professional engagement in both national and international contexts.
Programme Overview
The lecture began with a warm welcome by the convenor, Dr. Anupama Tiwari, followed by the opening address by Dr. Abdul A. Hameed, Associate Dean, Alliance School of Business. Dr. Hameed expressed his delight in being part of a session that connected language and business education, noting that languages play a vital role in every field when their significance is understood.
Insights from the Speakers
The guest panel featured three distinguished speakers:
Mr. Sunil Kumar Tripathi, Chief Manager and HR Head (Bengaluru–Chennai Unit), Sandhar Technologies Ltd.;
Mr. Shivashankar Shukla, Assistant Accounts Officer, Principal Controller of Defence Accounts, Ministry of Defence; and
Dr. Kapil Arora, Professor, Alliance University.
Mr. Shivashankar Shukla spoke about the growing use of Hindi in government and public-sector organisations. He shared that many ministries, including the Ministry of Defence, are encouraging greater use of Hindi in official communication. He observed that while positions for Hindi officers exist, candidates with both language proficiency and technical expertise are in short supply. He advised students that certified Hindi proficiency, combined with technical skills, can create strong career opportunities.
Mr. Sunil Kumar Tripathi discussed the role of Hindi in corporate environments. He explained that many companies are now adopting the Three-Language Formula, giving prominence to Hindi in their operations. He mentioned that several foreign companies provide Hindi training to their staff before entering the Indian market. He added that Indian companies have also begun using Hindi as a strategic business tool, stating that Hindi is no longer only a formal or symbolic language but one of convenience and competitive advantage.
Dr. Kapil Arora focused on the role of Hindi and other Indian languages in the digital age. He highlighted the importance of technical terminology in regional languages and encouraged students to learn multiple Indian languages, noting that global markets are increasingly engaging with local linguistic identities.
