In a powerful step toward digital empowerment and cyber awareness, Alliance University successfully conducted a student-focused outreach program titled "Cyber Sense: Think Smart, Stay Safe" at the Government Urdu Higher Secondary School in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The initiative aimed to educate young learners about cyber safety, responsible online behaviour, and the growing role of technology in everyday life.
The program drew participation from 120 enthusiastic students, creating a vibrant atmosphere of learning and interaction. Held in physical mode, the event combined engaging presentations with real-world scenarios, encouraging students to reflect on their online habits and understand the importance of being vigilant in the digital space.
The session commenced with an inspiring address by Dr. J. Lenin, Professor and Head, Alliance School of Advanced Computing, Alliance University, who emphasized the increasing relevance of cybersecurity in today's digital-first world. He also introduced students to the academic and career opportunities available at Alliance University, highlighting how education can be a pathway to becoming future-ready digital citizens.
Adding a compassionate perspective, Dr. Mamatha Ravi, Assistant Professor - Pure and Applied Mathematics & Head of the Department, Science & Humanities and First Year Engineering, Alliance University, connected with the students by discussing the ethical use of digital platforms, stressing the importance of kindness, respect, and responsibility in online interactions.
Interactive modules were led by Dr. R. C. Karpagalakshmi and Dr. R. Rajasekar, Professors from the Alliance School of Advanced Computing, Alliance University. Their engaging sessions covered crucial topics including:
- Protecting personal and sensitive information
- Understanding and preventing cyberbullying
- Practicing safe digital communication
- Exploring future careers in technology and cybersecurity
- Recognizing the impact of one's digital footprint
The event not only delivered critical cybersecurity knowledge but also simulated real-life scenarios to make the learning experience practical and relatable. Students were actively involved in discussions, encouraged to ask questions, and empowered to be ambassadors of cyber safety in their communities.
The program also emphasized collaboration with educators and parents, reinforcing the message that cyber responsibility is a shared goal. Faculty members from both institutions praised the interactive and accessible format of the sessions.
The event concluded with heartfelt appreciation from Ms. R. Devasena, Principal of Government Urdu Higher Secondary School, who expressed her gratitude for Alliance University’s initiative.
