The Centre for Research (CFR) and the Central Library, in collaboration with IQAC, Alliance University conducted a One-Day Capacity Building Workshop titled Empowering Research Excellence, bringing together key members of the academic community to strengthen institutional research practices. The event aimed to foster collaboration, enhance research capacity, and promote effective strategies for academic publishing and funding.
Focus on Research Strategy and Collaboration
The workshop served as a platform for researchers, faculty members, librarians, PhD coordinators, and academic leaders to engage in focused discussions on advancing research standards. Participants explored pathways to accelerate publication processes, identify relevant funding sources, and align research efforts with institutional goals.
Sessions Led by Industry Expert
Dr Shubhra Dutta, Customer Consultant at Elsevier, facilitated the core sessions. Her presentations covered essential topics such as streamlining the publication process, navigating academic databases, securing research funding, and using data analytics to showcase institutional research impact. The sessions offered practical approaches to building a more efficient and impactful research pipeline.
Attendees engaged with key tools and methodologies used in global research environments, enabling better alignment with international best practices. The discussions also included the importance of visibility in academic publishing and the role of metrics in measuring research output.
Organisational Support and Institutional Priorities
The workshop was jointly organised by the Centre for Research (CFR), Central Library, and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Alliance University. The collaboration highlighted the university’s integrated approach to research development, focusing on both individual researcher support and collective institutional growth.
The sessions reinforced the role of shared knowledge and interdepartmental coordination in achieving long-term research objectives. Emphasis was placed on developing systems that support early-stage researchers while enhancing opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.
Building a Strong Research Culture
The workshop aligned with the university’s broader goal of fostering a research-driven academic culture. By equipping participants with tools and strategies for enhancing research quality and reach, the event contributed to long-term capacity building across departments.
Participants discussed challenges commonly faced in research planning and publication, including access to quality journals, time management in academic writing, and the ethical dimensions of publishing. The workshop addressed these themes through structured dialogue and resource sharing.
Pathways to Institutional Excellence
The event supported Alliance University’s vision of becoming a hub for high-impact research and innovation. By strengthening faculty and scholar engagement in research, the university continues to build a knowledge ecosystem that reflects global academic standards.
The workshop concluded with a collective focus on continuous improvement, cross-functional cooperation, and the development of frameworks to support emerging research priorities. The outcomes are expected to inform future training, policy development, and research strategy across the institution.
