Alliance University Students Secure 2nd Runner-Up Position at OneEarth International Hackathon 2025

A student team from Alliance University achieved the 2nd Runner-Up position at the OneEarth International Hackathon 2025. The event was organised in collaboration with Cardiff Metropolitan University (UK), Manchester Metropolitan University (UK), the University of South Florida (US), and the University of Piraeus (Greece). The achievement reflects the students’ interest in sustainability-focused technological solutions and their ability to engage with global problem-solving platforms.
Recognition for Team Green Sentinel
The participating team, Green Sentinel, developed a project titled Green Sentinel – Securing Environmental IoT Data with AI and Blockchain. The project aimed to address concerns related to the protection of environmental data, which is increasingly collected through IoT devices and often vulnerable to cyber threats. The students explored a structured approach to strengthening data security through the use of AI-powered anomaly detection, AES encryption and blockchain-based logging. Their work focused on creating a model that supports transparency and reliability in sustainability-related research.
Student Contributors and Mentorship
The team consisted of B.Tech students from the 2023 batch: Victor Vikeeth Lobo, D. Aditya, Ananya A and Vidya Khairnar. Their collaboration demonstrated a shared commitment to addressing environmental challenges through technological innovation. The students were guided by their mentor, Dr Virendra Kumar Shrivastava, whose support contributed to shaping the direction and refinement of the project.
