Alliance University Marks International Women’s Day 2026 with Campus-Wide Celebrations

A Day of Recognition, Participation, and Collective Reflection
Alliance University observed International Women’s Day 2026 with a campus-wide celebration organised by the Alliance Centre for Women Empowerment. The event brought together members of the university community, invited guests, and awardees to recognise the contributions of women across different fields. The celebration reflected the university’s ongoing efforts to encourage inclusion, participation, and dialogue on empowerment.
The programme was graced by Chief Guest Smt. Shivani Konandur, Senior Scientist ‘G’, ISRO and Deputy Director, Communication and Control Centre Area (CCCA), ISTRAC, Bengaluru. The event was attended by Shri Abhay G. Chebbi, Pro-Chancellor, Alliance University, Ms. Shaila Chebbi, Director, Alliance Business School, Dr. Ray Titus, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Innovation & Incubation) and Dean, Alliance School of Business, and Dr. Matam Viswanathaiah, Registrar, Alliance University. The welcome address was delivered by Smt. Surekha Shetty, Registrar General and Chairperson, Alliance Centre for Women Empowerment, and the event concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Mamatha Ravi, Secretary, Alliance Centre for Women Empowerment.
A central part of the celebration was the Alliance Mahila Spandana Award Ceremony 2026, which recognised women for their contributions in areas such as cinema, art and culture, journalism, healthcare, agriculture, sports, and social responsibility. The awardees included Smt. Girija Lokesh, Smt. Vyjayanthi Kashi, Ms. Akshatha Pandavapura, Ms. Sharmitha Shetty, Ms. Pratima Bhatt, Smt. Manasi Sudhir, Smt. Chaya Nanjappa, Dr. Glory Alexander, Dr. Asha S. Vijay, Smt. C. S. Radhika, Ms. Usha B. N., and Ms. Vijayakumari G. K. Each award recognised consistent work and contribution in the respective fields.
Alongside the formal ceremony, a series of activities were organised across the campus. These included Women in Action, Alliance Got Talent, Velora Luxe – Hand Painting Workshop, Men in the Kitchen, Aura on the Ramp, Alliance Iconic Jodi, Cultural Performances, Fire Side Chat, and Men for Equity. These activities encouraged participation from students, faculty, and staff, and created an environment for interaction and engagement.
The celebration was aligned with the theme “Give to Gain”, which highlighted the importance of shared responsibility and support in building inclusive communities. The event provided a platform to recognise achievements, encourage participation, and reflect on the role of individuals and institutions in supporting women’s development.
The International Women’s Day celebration at Alliance University concluded with a sense of collective participation and recognition, reinforcing the importance of continued efforts towards inclusion, awareness, and meaningful engagement within the university and beyond.
