“Thriving in the Modern Workplace: Leadership, Learning & Resilience” explores the core of contemporary professional success
Alliance University had the distinct honour of hosting Mr. Gautam Khanna, Chief Delivery Officer & Head – Partnerships and Outreach, Centre for Open Societal Systems, for an engaging and thought-provoking session titled “Thriving in the Modern Workplace: Leadership, Learning & Resilience”. The event was part of the university’s exclusive corporate engagement initiative, Mehfil-e-Corporate.
Held at the university’s Central Campus, the session brought together students from across various disciplines for a meaningful exchange of ideas, insights, and real-world experiences. Mehfil-e-Corporate serves as a unique platform that connects future professionals with accomplished leaders, encouraging dialogue on the evolving landscape of work, leadership, and personal growth.
Mr. Khanna offered a compelling look into the realities of the modern workplace, addressing corporate power dynamics, informal networks of influence, and the subtleties of organisational politics. He shared practical perspectives on leadership, underlining the importance of emotional intelligence, strategic communication, and adaptability in shaping effective professional relationships.
Drawing from his experience, Mr. Khanna highlighted how aligning expectations, granting autonomy, and recognising individual communication styles contribute to workplace cohesion and team success. He also reframed negotiation as a collaborative, human-centred process aimed not at victory, but at creating long-term, sustainable outcomes.
The session concluded with a powerful reminder: true leadership is not defined by a position or title, but by the ability to inspire trust, demonstrate accountability, and pursue a shared vision.
To mark the end of the evening on a celebratory note, students enjoyed a vibrant cultural segment featuring a musical performance by Mr. Sweston Nikhil Sunitha. The performance showcased the spirit of creativity and community that lies at the heart of Alliance University.
Events like Mehfil-e-Corporate reaffirm the University’s commitment to shaping future-ready leaders through exposure to real-world insights, leadership philosophy, and industry engagement.
