The first edition of the Alliance Model GST Council Competition 2025 concluded at Alliance University with active participation, thoughtful debate, and valuable learning. The three-day event brought together students from leading law institutions to engage in a policy simulation exercise that reflected the working of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council.
Policy Simulation and Learning
The competition provided participants with the opportunity to explore the principles of fiscal federalism and consensus-building. Through structured simulations, students assumed the roles of Finance Ministers and Principal Secretaries, presenting arguments, negotiating policies, and working towards building common ground. The experience allowed them to gain a practical understanding of how policy decisions are debated and finalised within the GST framework.
Results and Recognition
The winners of the competition were from ABBS School of Law, Bengaluru, represented by Finance Minister Varun Kumar D and Principal Secretary Nikita Pandey. The runner-up position was awarded to MKPM RV Institute of Legal Studies, with Finance Minister Shradha Mahesh Shenoy and Principal Secretary Pragathi Narayan leading the team.
Special awards were also presented to recognise outstanding individual performances. Varun Kumar D from ABBS School of Law was named Best Finance Minister, while Abhilash M from KLE Law College, Bengaluru, was recognised as Best Principal Secretary.
