Srishty Jain graduated in 2008 with a PGDM from Alliance Business School. She narrates her story from her days at Alliance to her current stint as an Edtech entrepreneur @CoLLearn providing live online offbeat courses by world renowned industry experts.

Hailing from a small town of Rajasthan, I was socially awkward.  Bangalore was a big culture shock at personal level but I found my comfort zone with my friends at Alliance. I was a day scholar, so I used to talk to everyone and used to enjoy with North Indian Cohort or Punjabi Cohort as much as I enjoyed with Gujrati, Malayali and Kannadiga friends.  Within a few weeks of joining Alliance’s first trimester, I changed from a shy person to a chatterbox. I loved interacting with others and knowing about their cultures. Our batch had students from across India and across education streams with some complete freshers like me and others with sizeable work experience.

All of them brought so much of diversification, a different angle to learning and development. Classes were very vibrant and professor community was very approachable and helpful. Some of my Alliance professors and seniors are still my mentors and go to guides at my startup. At Alliance, I developed some lifelong friendships which I cherish to this today.

Two years went in a jiffy and the memories that I made in Alliance are forever etched in my heart. The classes, the assignments, the canteen, the visits to new restaurants, college fests, movies, and picnics. From Alliance, I joined Mosaic Capital as an Investment Banking Associate. After Mosaic, I worked for Deloitte as a Manager and then shifted to Dubai and worked for Al Masah and Qatalyst. I also completed my CFA and CAIA. To hone my skills after 10 years of working in core finance domain, I joined UCLA’s PG Program in 2018. In 2019, I shifted back to India to start my Edtech startup CoLLearn.

My Mantra in life is that embrace the life with open arms. There is so much to explore, hence be a lifelong learner and be humble about it.
