Conference Overview

The thought of organizing a National Conference on Law and Social transformation [NCLS-2021] took roots with the desire to pay homage to legal legendary Mr. Nani Palkhivala, who was a champion of civil liberties, a far-sighted economic thinker and a par-excellence lawyer. The aim is to celebrate his birth centenary, commemorating his scholarly contribution towards "the basic structure" doctrine. Discussing all the facets of his charismatic personality will surely inspire and motivate students, teachers and the young legal professionals to follow his example of hard work, self-improvement and dedication towards the profession.

Law does not work in isolation but works in society. Law not only is an effective instrument for social change, but it also leads to peaceful social transformation. Laws like Abolition of Untouchability, Child Marriage Prohibition Act, Anti Dowry Laws, Prevention of Sexual Harassment Act, the new laws relating to corporate governance and as recent as artificial intelligence have changed the society for better. The dynamic nature of law has contributed to the constant evolution of mankind. We at Alliance University, School of Law, have always strived to achieve excellence in legal research and are hence organising the National Conference on Law and Social Transformation [NCLS-2021] on March 6, 2021 and this would be annual endeavour in the years to come. We invite people from all the spheres of life ranging from judges, academicians, advocates, NGO representatives, corporate in-house lawyers, research scholars and students for this multi-disciplinary National Conference. The objective of the conference is to bring people from diverse backgrounds to one platform to discuss the lacunae in the legal system and to recommend changes such that it leads to holistic social transformation.
