Ashwin Rajendran A usual day at work in Kerala in the current times

Ashwin Rajendran graduated from Alliance University in 2017 with an MBA and a million dreams to shape up a bright future for himself and for the people around him. Ashwin shares his story and journey from Alliance and beyond.

After my initial schooling in Maharashtra and Kerala, I did my engineering from Tamil Nadu and did decide to pursue a business post-graduation. I was destined to study at Alliance and so were the friends I made there. Coming from an Engineering background, management was quite a new thing for me.

The faculty and atmosphere of Alliance made it easy for me to adapt to the new environment. The first semester, everything was very fast and new; making new friends, doing group assignments, making presentations, participating in activities on campus and getting around was quite an interesting routine.

All of us in my batch had a tight schedule and by the time we could realize, it was time to move to the second semester, where we had to choose our specializations. One of my professors was not only a teacher to me but also a mentor, he guided me to choose Marketing as he identified my dominant traits were towards a marketing career.

I stayed in the hostel so that I could explore and enjoy the campus life where after the classes we used to spend a lot of time in the extracurricular activities and hanging out with the friends. Food and badminton were my all-time favorites after classes, whenever time permitted.

I was a part of the placement committee for my batch, which helped me in getting a lot of exposure in organizing events and working with a team. I also got a chance to interact with many students and leaders from different companies.

The experience which I gained working with this team as a coordinator led me to be an influencer, a definite add-on to my skill in my career now.

During the placement cycle, I got placed with Mondelez India (Cadbury India) in November 2016 as a Sales Officer Trainee and the journey till date has been a great learning curve in terms of my career as well as self-development. After a probation of 6 months and an initial stint in Malappuram, Kerala, I was promoted as a Sales Executive. Now almost four years since I started working with Mondelez, I have been assigned different geographies in Central and North parts of Kerala. Everyday is a new and refreshing day with immense learning.

I believe Alliance University helped me mold myself to be a successful sales and marketing professional.

One of the events in my career that I like to share with everyone is an event conducted by Mondelez where I was awarded the Sales Executive with an outstanding sales figure for the Oreo brand. The event also had a team activity where members had to cook something using Oreo and the cooking ingredients available there and the best dish was awarded.

These events and experiences were a pure reflection of my success and the good life I was sure to achieve after my great time at Alliance.

As a success story this is a small part of my life, I would like to celebrate with all my friends and dear ones from Alliance.
