About the Centre

The Alliance Journal of Corporate and Commercial Law (AJCCL), an annual online publication of the Alliance Centre for Corporate and Commercial Laws (ACCL) at Alliance School of Law, Alliance University, Bengaluru, invites original and unpublished submissions for its 2025 edition (Vol. III). The journal is committed to publishing high-quality research that demonstrates both scholarly rigor and practical relevance within the dynamic field of corporate and commercial law.

AJCCL provides a platform for in-depth analysis and discussion of contemporary issues in corporate and commercial law. As a double-blind peer-reviewed open access journal (e-ISSN : 2584-2463), AJCCL upholds rigorous academic standards and aims to foster a strong research culture by disseminating valuable insights and significant findings. Submission Guidelines

General Guidelines

We welcome submissions in the following categories:

  Research Articles (5,000 - 8,000 words):

Substantive, analytical research offering original contributions to corporate and commercial law. These should demonstrate rigorous methodology, clear argumentation, and significant scholarly contribution.

  • Maximum 2 authors.
  • Requires an abstract of 250-300 words and 5 keywords.

  Case Comments / Case Notes (3,000 - 5,000 words):

Insightful analyses of recent or landmark judicial decisions that have contemporary relevance to corporate and commercial law practice and scholarship.

  • Preferably single-authored.
  • Requires an abstract of 250-300 words and 5 keywords.

  Legislative Comments / Statute Notes (3,000 - 5,000 words):

Critical assessments of newly enacted or significantly amended statutes/bills, examining their impact, implications, and potential areas for reform.

  • Preferably single-authored.
  • Requires an abstract of 250-300 words and 5 keywords.

  Essays (3,000 - 5,000 words):

Theoretical or policy-oriented reflections supported by legal analysis. These explore ideas, propose frameworks, or engage with jurisprudential questions in corporate and commercial law.

  • Preferably single-authored.
  • Requires an abstract of 250-300 words and 5 keywords.

  Book Reviews (1,5000 - 2,500 words):

Critical appraisals of recently published works relevant to the journal's domain. Book reviews should assess the book's contribution, strengths, weaknesses, and relevance to the field.

  • Single-authored only.
  • Does NOT require keywords and abstract.

Co-Authorship Guidelines

  • Research Articles: Maximum of 2 authors. Exceptions may be considered for meaningful contributions with editorial approval.
  • Other Categories: Preferably single-authored. Exceptions may be considered for meaningful contributions with editorial approval.

  • Placement: First page, center aligned
  • Do NOT include author name on this page

  • Style: Bold, Sentence case

  • Style: Bold, Italicised, Sentence case

  Body Text:

  • No indentation for the first line of paragraphs
  • Spacing between paragraphs: Use line spacing of 1.5 (no additional space before / after)

  No Footnotes in Titles or Headings:

  • Footnotes should ONLY appear in the body text, not in any title or heading

  Page Numbering:

  • Number all pages consecutively (1, 2, 3... through last page)
  • Place page numbers at the bottom centre
  • Start numbering from the first page of the manuscript

  Tables, Charts, and Figures:

  • Keep to a minimum (only essential visuals)
  • Place EACH table/chart/figure within the text at the appropriate points
  • Please embed figures within text
  • Include source citation at bottom: Source: [Full citation in Bluebook format]
  • Example - Source: Reserve Bank of India Annual Report 2023, p. 45.
  • All tables and figures should be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals (Table 1, Figure 1, etc.)

Citation Style

  • Submissions must conform to the Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (21st ed.).
  • Footnotes should be used for references instead of endnotes.

Language

Manuscript should use British English spelling.

  • Every manuscript should include a clear Introduction and Conclusion.
  • Use of the first person (I/we) should be avoided.
  • Authors are encouraged to ensure clarity, logical flow, and coherence throughout.

All manuscripts must include a "Statements and Declarations" section following the Conclusion:

  Funding:

The author should disclose any funding received from research agencies (please specify the funding body and grant number) and/or any form of research support provided by organisations for the research.

Examples of statements to be used:

  • If funded: This study was funded by [Name of Funding Body] (Grant number [XXX]).
  • If support was non-monetary: The authors received research support in the form of [e.g., equipment/materials] from [Organisation Name].
  • If no funding was received: The authors did not receive support from any organisation for the submitted work.

  Data Availability Statement:

All submissions must have a 'Data availability' statement. In this context, 'data' denotes any materials or information that support a body of research, regardless of whether it was developed or analysed by the writers. Data can be either quantitative (e.g., numerical) or qualitative (e.g., interview transcripts, photographs, etc.). If no data were generated or analysed, this must be explicitly stated in the paper.

Examples of statements to be used:

  • Repository: The datasets generated during the current study are available in the [Name] repository ([DOI/Link]).
  • On Request: The datasets generated during the current study are available from the corresponding author on reasonable request.
  • Included in Paper: All data generated or analysed during this study are included in this published article [and its supplementary files].
  • No Data: Data sharing is not applicable to this article as no datasets were generated or analysed.

  Using Third-Party Material:

The author bears the responsibility for checking whether the material submitted is subject to copyright or ownership rights. The author must obtain the necessary permission to reuse third-party material in their article. If the author wishes to include any material in the paper for which the author does not hold copyright, the author needs to obtain written permission from the copyright owner prior to submission.

Examples of statements to be used:

  • Declaration: The authors confirm that they have obtained all necessary permissions from copyright owners for the use of third-party material included in this manuscript.

Note: Proof of permission should be available upon request by the editorial office.

  Ethical Declaration:

For research involving human participants (or their data), your article must include an Ethics Declaration statement comprising ethics approval and informed consent.

Examples of statements to be used:

  • Standard Statement: Ethical approval was obtained from the [Name of Ethics Committee] (Approval No. [XXX]). Informed consent was obtained from all individual participants included in the study.
  • Exempt Studies: This study was deemed exempt from ethics approval by [Name of Committee] because [provide brief reason, e.g., use of de-identified public data].

  Conflict of interest:

Authors must include a Competing Interest statement clearly stating if there are any conflicts of interest.

Examples of statements to be used:

  • No Conflict: The authors have no competing interests to declare that are relevant to the content of this article.
  • Disclosure Required: [Author Name] has received research grants from [Company Name]. [Author Name] is a member of the committee for [Organisation Name].

Submission Process

  • Manuscripts must be submitted via the online submission portal.
  • Submissions will undergo double-blind peer review.
  • The manuscript should be submitted in Word format and should be anonymous.
  • Authors should avoid self-identifying information in the manuscript file. Identifying details regarding the author or affiliations should not be included in the manuscript.

Plagiarism and Use of Generative AI

Submissions to the journal would undergo a plagiarism check in Turnitin. The journal maintains a zero-tolerance policy for plagiarism, and manuscripts found to violate academic integrity will be rejected immediately.

Generative AI tools (such as ChatGPT) do not meet the criteria for authorship and cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. The use of AI-assisted technologies for content generation is strictly prohibited. However, authors may use AI-powered editorial software (e.g., Grammarly) to improve language, spelling, and grammar. Authors must clearly declare the use of any AI-assisted tools in the "Statements and Declaration" section of the manuscript. Failure to disclose the use of such tools or the discovery of undisclosed generative AI content will result in the rejection of the article.

Examples of statements to be used:

  • When using editorial software (e.g., Grammarly): During the preparation of this manuscript, the author(s) used [Name of Tool/Service] in order to improve the language and grammar of the text. After using this tool/service, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the published article.
  • When no AI tools were used: The authors confirm that no Generative AI or AI-assisted technologies were used in the generation of content or the editorial refinement of this manuscript.

Publication Policy

  • No Submission or Publication Fees
  • Original Work Only: Manuscripts must not be under review elsewhere or previously published
  • Ethical Responsibility: Authors are responsible for ensuring accuracy, originality, and the integrity of their submissions.
  • Right to Reject: The Editorial Board reserves the right to decline submissions not meeting academic, editorial, or ethical standards.
