World Tuberculosis Day at Alliance University: Promoting Awareness and Responsibility
24 March, 2026

At Alliance University, education is viewed as extending beyond the classroom, with a focus on shaping socially responsible individuals who contribute to society. In line with this approach, the university marked World Tuberculosis Day through an awareness programme that encouraged learning, participation, and community engagement.
The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Alliance University, in collaboration with the Directorate of Student Services and Support Systems, organised a tuberculosis awareness programme to highlight the importance of public health and early intervention. The event was coordinated by Prof. Kasaniya Naik from the Faculty of Language and Literature and NSS Faculty Coordinator, and was presented by Meghana M, NSS Secretary, who guided the session in a clear and composed manner.
The programme included participation from healthcare professionals, including Dr. Ravi, Taluk Health Officer at the Government Hospital in Anekal, who attended as the guest speaker. He shared information on tuberculosis, focusing on its prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. His session provided practical insights and helped participants understand the importance of early detection and proper medical care. The programme also included contributions from TB team workers from the Government Hospital, Anekal, who supported the session with their experience and knowledge.
A range of activities were conducted to make the session engaging and informative. A talk by the guest speaker explained key aspects of tuberculosis in a simple manner. A short skit in English addressed common misconceptions and stigma associated with the disease, helping to create awareness in a relatable way. Participants also took part in a tuberculosis awareness pledge, which encouraged a sense of collective responsibility. An interactive question and answer session allowed attendees to clarify doubts and engage directly with the healthcare experts.
Participants were recognised for their involvement through NSS certificates, activity points, and volunteer hours. This acknowledgement reflected their contribution to promoting awareness on an important public health issue.
The programme reflected Alliance University’s continued commitment to public health awareness, community engagement, and the development of student leadership. Through such initiatives, the university aims to encourage informed understanding and responsible action, contributing to a healthier and more aware community.
