Stories often extend beyond pages and screens, taking shape through the way they are interpreted and understood. At Alliance University, the Kannada Book, Story and Film Review Competition, organized by the Kannada Sangha, created a platform for students to engage with narratives through reflection and analysis.
The competition brought together students to explore literature and cinema that address themes such as human resilience, identity, education, and belonging. Through their reviews, participants examined works including Doorasaridaru, Yaatrikana Kanasu, Ulidavaru Kandante, and Sarkari Hiriya Prathamika Shaale. Each review reflected an individual perspective, contributing to discussions that were layered, thoughtful, and rooted in personal interpretation.
The initiative encouraged students to look beyond entertainment and consider the broader context and meaning of the narratives they engaged with. It provided an opportunity to connect with language and culture in a way that is both analytical and experiential.
The competition highlighted that language is not only a medium of communication but also a means of understanding and questioning the world. Through this engagement, students were able to explore how stories can influence thought and remain relevant beyond their immediate form.
