Alliance University, through its NSS Cell and Kannada Sangha, organized a full-day educational initiative to commemorate International Literacy Day under the theme “Celebrating Literacy, Inspiring Voices, Empowering Futures.” The program brought together community outreach and campus-based learning activities to promote literacy, communication skills, and educational awareness among students.

The initiative was conducted in two segments, beginning with an outreach program at Government High School, Indlavadi, Anekal Taluk, followed by a special lecture at the Alliance University campus. Both sessions focused on encouraging learning, building confidence, and highlighting the importance of effective communication and self-expression.

As part of the morning outreach program, NSS volunteers engaged with school students through interactive activities, including Pick and Speak and Group Discussions. These activities encouraged students to express their thoughts, improve their communication skills, and develop confidence in public speaking. A prize distribution ceremony was also organized to recognize the winners of the competitions.

To support reading habits and educational development, Alliance University distributed books and stationery kits to school children. The collection included biographies of national leaders, social reformers, and freedom fighters, along with patriotic songbooks. The initiative aimed to encourage students to explore literature, learn about important historical figures, and develop a sustained interest in reading. Refreshments were also arranged for participating students, faculty members, and University volunteers.

The afternoon session continued at the Alliance University campus with a special lecture on Speech and Presentation Skills. The session featured Smt. Jayanthi K. Y., Writer and Former News Editor of Doordarshan and All India Radio, Bengaluru, as the Chief Guest.

Addressing University officials, faculty members, and student coordinators, Smt. Jayanthi K. Y. shared insights into effective communication, confident expression, and the importance of developing strong presentation skills. The lecture highlighted how communication abilities contribute to personal development, academic learning, and meaningful participation in society.

The two-part program emphasized that literacy extends beyond the ability to read and write. It also involves developing the confidence to communicate, express ideas, understand different perspectives, and participate actively in society.

Through this initiative, Alliance University\'s NSS Cell and Kannada Sangha reinforced their commitment to community engagement, educational outreach, and inclusive learning. The observance of International Literacy Day provided an opportunity to connect classroom learning with social responsibility while encouraging students to recognize education as an important foundation for individual growth and community development.
