Alliance University Launches AU-QUASAR with On-Campus Quantum Computing System
Alliance University has launched AU-QUASAR – Alliance University Quantum AI School for Advanced Research at Electronics City Phase 1, Bengaluru, strengthening its focus on quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and deep-tech education. The campus houses an 8-qubit QVidya quantum computing system developed by QpiAI, providing students, researchers, startups, and industry partners with direct access to quantum computing infrastructure.
The system has been physically installed and commissioned on campus, allowing students to work with quantum hardware rather than relying only on simulation or remote cloud access. According to Alliance University and QpiAI, this makes Alliance University the first private institution in India to have a commissioned quantum computer installed on campus.
The campus was inaugurated by Shri Kris Gopalakrishnan, Co-founder, Infosys, in the presence of Shri Sharath Kumar Bache Gowda, Chairman, KEONICS, and Member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, as Guest of Honour. The inauguration also included the unveiling of the Quantum Computing Centre powered by QpiAI and the Artificial Intelligence Lab accelerated by NVIDIA DGX servers.
AU-QUASAR brings together quantum computing, artificial intelligence, robotics, cyber-physical systems, digital fabrication, social innovation, and technology entrepreneurship. The campus also includes a Knowledge Resource Centre, makerspaces, a Science Writing and Data Storytelling Lab, and a Technology Business Incubator.
The campus offers four specialized undergraduate programs in Quantum Computing and Information Science, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, and Cyber-Physical Systems.
The launch reflects Alliance University’s continued focus on creating opportunities for students and researchers to engage directly with emerging technologies, strengthen interdisciplinary research, and collaborate with academic and industry partners.
