Alliance University Hosts 4th Edition of Vivechana 2026 on Innovation and Competition Law

Alliance University, through the Office of Career Advancement and Networking (CAN), hosted the 4th edition of Vivechana 2026, its flagship law conclave. Themed “Navigating Innovation and Competition Law in the Digital Age,” the conclave brought together legal professionals, industry leaders, and academicians to examine how emerging technologies, digital platforms, and evolving business models are reshaping competition and creating new legal challenges. 

The conclave commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a welcome address by Dr. V. Shyam Kishore, Professor & Associate Dean – Academic Affairs and Dean, Alliance School of Law. The inaugural address was delivered by Mr. Abhay G. Chebbi, Pro-Chancellor, Alliance University, followed by addresses from Dr. B. Priestly Shan, Vice-Chancellor, and Ms. Surekha Shetty, Registrar General, Alliance University. 

The keynote address by Ms. Sonal Basu, Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Ascendion, highlighted the growing significance of data in contemporary markets and set the context for the discussions that followed.

The first panel discussion, “Innovation and Competition Law in India: The Path Ahead,” explored how India’s competition law framework can evolve to support innovation while maintaining fair markets. Moderated by Mr. Vinay Joy, Partner, Khaitan & Co, the discussion featured legal and industry professionals from Novo Nordisk, LTM, Quess Corp Limited, and Syngene International Limited. 

The second panel, “Competition Issues in Digital Markets,” examined concerns emerging from digital platforms and data-driven business models. Moderated by Mr. Rahul Jain, Partner, Hammurabi & Solomon Partners, the panel brought together representatives from Adobe, Google, Zyeta, and Yield Engineering Systems. 

Vivechana 2026 provided a platform for meaningful dialogue between academia and industry on the evolving relationship between technology, innovation, and competition law. The conclave also reflected the shared commitment of Alliance School of Law and the Office of Career Advancement and Networking to preparing students to understand and respond to the legal challenges of an increasingly digital economy.
