Alliance University, through the Centre for Counselling & Health Services (CCHS) in collaboration with YourDOST, conducted an interactive session titled “You Matter: Suicide Awareness & Prevention” as part of its continued efforts to promote emotional well-being and mental health awareness on campus.
The session was facilitated by Ms. Krishnendu Ashok, Psychologist and Positive Psychology Practitioner, who encouraged students to recognize signs of emotional distress in themselves and others. The discussion also addressed common myths and misconceptions around suicide prevention and highlighted the importance of responding with empathy, care, and sensitivity.
Drawing on approaches from Positive Psychology, Mindfulness Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Art Therapy, the session emphasized the value of timely support, professional intervention, and open conversations around emotional well-being.
A key message from the session was simple and direct: You matter. Your feelings matter. Reaching out for support matters.
Through CCHS, Alliance University continues to create spaces where students can speak openly, seek guidance, and feel supported in their personal and academic journeys.
