The Department of Fine Arts, Alliance School of Liberal Arts, Alliance University, conducted a one-day Watercolor Workshop to provide students with practical exposure to watercolor techniques and artistic expression. The workshop brought together 45 students for an interactive learning experience led by Vasundhara Badi, Contemporary Watercolor Artist. Exploring Watercolor Techniques The workshop introduced students to essential approaches in watercolor painting, including color handling, brushwork, transparent layering, textures, and the relationship between water, pigment, and paper. Through demonstrations and guided practice, students explored how different techniques and materials can influence the appearance and character of a painting. Participants were encouraged to observe, experiment, and translate their ideas onto paper. The practical sessions allowed them to explore different textures and styles while developing greater confidence in working with watercolor as an expressive medium. Learning Through Practice and Interaction Students also had the opportunity to interact with Vasundhara Badi, discuss their work, seek guidance, and understand the working methods of a practicing watercolor artist. The interaction offered insights into contemporary watercolor practice and encouraged students to develop their own visual approach rather than focusing only on technique. The workshop supported studio-based learning by strengthening students\\\\\\\' understanding of color, tone, texture, composition, and mark-making. It also encouraged experimentation and individual expression, helping students connect technical knowledge with their own creative ideas. The workshop was coordinated by Prof. Sangita Das and Prof. Bivas Paul. Through demonstrations, hands-on practice, and interaction with the resource person, the session provided students with a meaningful opportunity to explore the creative possibilities of watercolor and develop their individual artistic language.
