Alliance University commemorated the 134th birth anniversary of Padma Shri Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, widely regarded as the Father of Library Science in India, through the National Librarians’ Day celebration organized by the Central Library.

The occasion honored Dr. Ranganathan’s contribution to library science while also reflecting on the changing role of libraries in education, research, and knowledge dissemination. The program highlighted how libraries continue to support academic communities by enabling access to information, encouraging inquiry, and adapting to emerging technologies.

The event featured Mr. Giridhar Kunkur, Former Librarian at LNMIIT, Jaipur, and University Librarian at BITS Pilani, who shared insights from his professional journey. He spoke about the importance of professional ethics, continuous learning, technological adaptation, and innovation in strengthening contemporary library services.

The celebration also recognized the contribution of the Central Library team and acknowledged their role in supporting the academic and research environment of the University. The program further marked the launch of six books authored by Alliance University faculty members, reflecting the University’s growing engagement with research, scholarship, and academic authorship.

The celebration reinforced the enduring relevance of libraries as spaces that preserve knowledge while enabling discovery. As methods of access and learning continue to evolve, their central purpose remains the same: connecting people with ideas that support learning, research, and the advancement of knowledge.
