Prof. Somnath Bhattacharya

Prof. Somnath Bhattacharya is pursuing Ph.D. from IIT Kanpur in the domain of Marketing and Information Systems. His thesis work is focused on understanding and applying consumer-focused approach for extracting information and evaluating algorithms. Evaluating news recommender systems and analyzing online customer reviews are two key domains in his thesis work. He completed his MBA from IIT Kanpur and B.Tech. in Information Technology. He also comes with industry experience in IT and Financial Sales.

During both his industrial and academic experience, Prof. Bhattacharya has been appreciated by his peers. He has presented his work at several national conferences. His thesis proposal was nominated for Best Dissertation proposal in WITSCONF 2020. His current research interest includes working in areas related to designing and experimental evaluation of news recommender systems and performing different grains of sentiment analysis on online reviews.
