Dr. Stanley Chacko Salem
Associate Professor
Alliance School of Applied Engineering
Dr. Stanley Chacko Salem obtained his PhD degree from University of Nottingham in 2016 for his work relating to development of methodologies for evaluation of high strain rate properties of composite material constituents. He obtained Master of Technology in Mechanical Engineering (Machine Design) and Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from College of Engineering, Trivandrum (University of Kerala). He had received Dean’s Engineering Scholarship for International Excellence from University of Nottingham for pursuing his PhD degree course and GATE Scholarship for pursuing his Master of Technology degree course (2002-2004). Prior to his PhD, he had worked for CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore (CSIR-NAL) as Scientist B (2006-2009) and Scientist C (2009-2012). He has more than ten years of experience in research and around 11 years in teaching. He had also worked as an Airport Manager in Cochin International Airport Ltd (2005-2006). He is a life member of ISAMPE and ISTAM and also held professional membership of SAMPE (UK). He has contributed to around 20 publications in the form of journal paper, conference papers, project documents and project reports.
His research interest includes: high strain rate testing, multi-scale modelling, impact testing, mechanical characterization, numerical modelling, composite materials, robotics, Outcome-based education-implementation and challenges, etc.
