Dr. Smita Satapathy holds a Ph.D. in Law on the topic “A Medico- Legal Analysis on Attempt to Commit Suicide in India” from Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan, (Deemed to be University), Bhubaneswar, Odisha. She completed her LL.M. in the year 2014 from National Law University Odisha, Cuttack with a specialization in Corporate and Commercial Law. She pursued her BBA. LL.B. (Hons.) from KIIT School of Law, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (Deemed to be University), Bhubaneswar, Odisha with Criminal Law Honours. Her areas of interest include Criminal Law, Human Rights and Environmental Law.

Before joining Alliance University, Dr. Satapathy was a full- time Ph.D. Research Scholar from August 2016 to August 2020 in Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan, (Deemed to be University), Bhubaneswar, Odisha and a faculty for 4 years in Faculty of Legal Studies, SOA National Institute of Law, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. She has participated and presented papers in many international, national conferences and seminars; and attended workshops and symposiums. During her college days she did many internships and was an active member in legal aid society. Apart from academics she is also a classical singer. Her hobbies include reading books, listening to music and watching movies.
