Dr. K. Gopi Kannan

Dr. K. Gopi Kannan is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Applied Engineering, at Alliance University, Bengaluru. He previously worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (ISM), Dhanbad, Jharkhand, India. Dr. Gopi Kannan earned his Ph.D. in Energy Storage from Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore in 2021. He holds a Master’s degree in Thermal Engineering (CGPA: 9.65/10) and an Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering (CGPA: 8.34/10), both from Anna university-affiliated colleges.
He has published over 18 peer-reviewed journal articles, contributed two book chapters, and holds one patent. His research interests include heat transfer, thermal energy storage, electronic cooling, nanotechnology, solar energy, power generation, hydrogen storage, and alternative fuels with additives. He has a cumulative impact factor of 78.3 and holds five reputed professional memberships, including ISHMT, NSFMFP, ISTE, SESI, and IAENG.
During his Ph.D, he was awarded a CSIR Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) (Ack. No.: 141202/2K18/1; Award No.: 09/844(0086)/2019-EMR-I) for the project titled "Optimizing thermal management in electronic devices by thermosyphon-aided PCM-filled annular: An experimental study."
With over eight years of teaching and research experience across various universities and engineering colleges, he has mentored numerous undergraduate research projects and contributed to several publications. Dr. Gopi Kannan has delivered multiple guest lectures and motivational talks at engineering institutions and has served as a reviewer for over 20 international journals. He has also submitted research proposals to SERB (SRG scheme) and MNRE focusing on applied research in energy technologies.
