Dr. D. Divya

Assistant Professor & Research Faculty

Dr. D. Divya is currently working as an Assistant Professor & Research Faculty in the Alliance School of Biotechnology at Alliance University, Bangalore. Dr. Divya is recognized as one of the World’s top 2% scientists by Stanford University and Elsevier in the year 2025. She had pursued two Post-Doctorates in Material Science from King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok, Thailand (2022-24). She got awarded Ph.D. in Biotechnology from the Periyar University and availed INSPIRE Fellowship (JRF and SRF) from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India (2012-2017). She had the privilege of receiving the University First Rank with Gold Medal from Periyar University for her post-graduation in Biotechnology (2011). She is a graduate in Botany and Biotechnology from the University of Kerala (2009). She was a research faculty in the department of Biotechnology, Saveetha School of Engineering, Chennai. Also, she had a previous history of working with Pinnacle Biosciences as a research associate for about 5 years, after completing her Doctoral research. She got granted a patent in 2025 and edited a book in the year 2024. She has published more than 90 articles in high-quality international peer-reviewed SCI and Scopus-indexed Journals, which include both research and review articles. There are 18 book chapters in her account that are published in high-quality books relevant to biotechnology and material science. She does serve as a reviewer for more than 30 reputed Journals, including Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, etc. She has participated in many national and international conferences/workshops/seminars and presented more than 30 papers. Moreover, she has credited with the excellent student merit award, several proficiency certifications, and holds a diploma in bioinformatics tools. She has delivered many invited talks and taken part in the roles of Biosciences Association president and Nature Service Society president, as part of her academic enhancement. Her research interests include Material Science (Biopolymers-MCC, Bio-plasticizers), Environmental Science (Sustainable waste recycling), Bioprocess Technology (Biofuels), Enzymology (Pretreatments), and Microbiology (Anti-microbial and life-cycle analysis).
