Dr. Baidurya Chakrabarti

Dr. Baidurya Chakrabarti joins the Alliance School of Film and Media Studies as an Assistant Professor, bringing over a decade of post-PhD expertise that bridges critical film theory, digital media studies, and creative practice. His interdisciplinary research is anchored in cultural studies, psychoanalysis, and continental philosophy, with a distinct focus on South Asian cinema and internet cultures.

As a dedicated institution-builder and critical pedagogue, Dr. Chakrabarti has previously led academic programs and international collaborations, most notably founding the SCMC Pramana media research conference. His teaching philosophy integrates rigorous theoretical frameworks—from film history and criticism to scriptwriting and experimental film—with hands-on, industry-aligned practice in content creation. He is committed to cultivating an academic environment where critical analysis and creative innovation converge.
