Dr. Aishwarya Singh Chauhan

Dr. Aishwarya is a Ph. D. in Microbial Biochemistry from the University of Allahabad and a Master’s in Microbiology from Jiwaji University, Gwalior. She brings over a decade of expertise in laboratory research management, clinical trials, and international collaborations.
Her post-doctoral career spans under the leadership of Dr. Sunil Sazawal, Associate Professor in John Hopkin University, in different WHO and Gates Foundation–supported projects, including ABCD (Antibiotics for Children with Severe Diarrhea), ZTDT (Zinc Therapeutic Dose Trial), MOMI (Mult omics for Mother and Infants), and the PPNDC-COVID sub study, involving cross-country and multi-centric investigations. She has extensive experience in project planning, protocol standardization, experimental design, SOP development, and funding applications.
For the past three years, Dr. Aishwarya has served as a Microbiology laboratory technical consultant, providing training to staff at international institutions such as PhL-IdC, Pemba (Tanzania) and Subharthi Medical University, Meerut (India).
Since May 2022, she has been working as a Pharmacopoeia Scientist at the Indian Pharmacopeia Commission (IPC), where she is leading the establishment of a Reference culture laboratory and contributing to the Development of a Genome Laboratory for Microbial Identification and Advanced Research.
Her academic accomplishments include passing the CSIR-UGC NET Exam in December 2011 with a rank of 32 (AIR). MPPSC scientific officer pre-exam 2013-14 and RPSC Senior Scientific Officer (Forensics) pre and interview 2019, MPPSC pre-exam 2020.
Her publication history includes 23 publications in reputable journals like NEJM, BMJ, BMC, MDPI, JAMA, Molecular Biology Reports, Safety Sciences, and others. She also has three book chapters published by Taylor and Francis and Springer, with a cumulative impact factor of 280 and 308 research citations with an H-index of 9.
Future research will focus on advancing microbial biotechnology through the following key directions:
- Microbial Culture Identification & Strain Improvement
- Enhance strain improvement strategies to optimize yield and stability of industrially important microbes.
- Bioprocessing & Enzyme Applications
- Scale up bioprocesses for the production of industrially relevant enzymes.
- Microbial Consortia Discovery
- Investigate microbial consortia of agricultural and industrial importance.
- Develop diagnostic tools for identifying disease-causing microbial consortia in medical and agricultural systems.
- Microbial Biobank Development
- Establish a Microbial Biobank of indigenous industrially important strains.
- Provide a sustainable resource for ongoing and future research, enabling students and scientists to access diverse microbial collections for industrial, food and agriculture benefits.
