Dr. A M Sreedharan

Dr. A M Sreedharan is a distinguished academician and administrator with extensive experience in higher education, research, and cultural studies. He has held several key leadership positions at Kannur University, including Director, Academic Staff College; Director, Distance Education; and Director, Dr. P. K. Rajan Memorial Campus, Nileswaram. In addition, he has served as Coordinator for the Ph.D. Course Work, and has been an active member of the Academic Council, Statutory Finance Committee, and Research Council of Kannur University.

Dr. Sreedharan has also contributed significantly to academic governance as a Peer Team Member of the IQAC at Kannur University and Chairman of the PG Board of Studies. His academic influence extends beyond Kannur University, having served as a Malayalam Expert Committee Member at the Central University of Kerala, and as a Member of the Board of Studies for Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels across multiple universities, including Madurai Kamaraj University, University of Kerala, and Sarvakalasala.

A prolific scholar and editor, he is the Chief Editor of Thudi Thrimasikam, the research journal of the Department of Malayalam, Kannur University. His research interests encompass folklore, literary criticism, language, media, and cultural studies. He has authored and edited numerous influential books, including Tulu-Malayalam Dictionary, Tuli Parambaryavum Veededuppum, Ethnicity–Culture–Survival: Folklore Approaches and Possibilities, Variyudakkappetta Janmangal, Madhyamam–Moulikathayum Nirakaranavum, Vakkinte Rashtriyam, and Tharathamya Sahitya Padanangal, among others.

His outstanding contributions to literature and folklore have earned him several prestigious recognitions, including the Kerala Sahitya Academy Award (2014), Karnataka Byari Sahitya Academy Award (2014), Kerala Folklore Academy Award (2012), and the M. K. K. Nair Trust Award.

Through his multifaceted career as a scholar, educator, and administrator, Dr. Sreedharan continues to play a vital role in advancing Malayalam studies, folklore research, and cultural preservation.
