  • Dr. Cholenahalli Nanjappa Manjunath (born 23 September 1957) is a renowned Indian cardiologist and politician, currently serving as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bengaluru Rural Lok Sabha constituency. He is widely recognized for his contributions to the field of cardiology and his leadership in healthcare. 
  • Dr. Manjunath served as the Director of Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, a premier government-run cardiac hospital, where he played a pivotal role in expanding and modernizing the institution. His remarkable contributions to Indian medicine earned him the prestigious Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award. 
  • Beyond his medical career, he has also held leadership roles, including serving as the President of the Indian College of Cardiology. In 2020, as a tribute to frontline workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, he was honored with the opportunity to inaugurate the 410th edition of Mysore Dasara, Karnataka’s state festival. 
  • In March 2024, Dr. Manjunath transitioned into politics and was announced as the BJP candidate for the Bengaluru Rural constituency in the 2024 General Elections. He is married to the daughter of former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda and resides in Bengaluru. 
  • His journey from being a distinguished cardiologist to a public leader reflects his dedication to both healthcare and public service, making him a respected figure in Indian society.

  • Bharathi Vishnuvardhan (born 15 August 1950), also known mononymously as Bharathi, is an Indian actress known primarily for her work in Kannada cinema and television serials.
  • She began her career in 1966, as a lead actress, with the Kannada movie Love in Bangalore though Dudde Doddappa was her first release.
  • In a career spanning over 50 years, Bharathi has appeared in 150 films. Apart from 100 films in Kannada, she has also acted in a handful of Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films.
  • Through the course of her career, Bharathi was known for her portrayal of roles of mythological and historical characters, and also that of a student, a romantic and a rural belle.
  • Her role in Sri Krishnadevaraya (1970) as Chennambike won her the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Actress. In 2017, she was honoured with the Padma Shri by the Government of India.
  • She has the distinction of having paired with Dr.Rajkumar as a lead actress in all the 26 movies she acted with him and is also paired with him the most no. of times (6 movies) in those movies where he played multiple roles.
