The Doctoral Program, Batch of 2011 was inaugurated at the School of Business, Alliance University on August 18, 2011 by Pro Vice-Chancellor, Alliance University. In his inaugural address to doctoral students, the Pro Vice-Chancellor reiterated the commitment of the University to develop a learning community that would work towards benefiting society at large, even as it prepares research scholars to play an instrumental role in enhancing the quality of management research and education in India. The Pro Vice-Chancellor called upon scholars to expand the scope of academic inquiry and to strive to improve the quality of research through their contributions to thought leadership in business academia. Dr. G. R. Narayanan – Program Director, Doctoral Degree Program, in his address exhorted students to be exhaustive in their work and encouraged them to use all the resources provided by the University for their research projects. Dr. Rahul De’, Hewlett-Packard Chair Professor, IIM Bangalore, emphasized on the need for scholars in India to address and seek answers to the numerous questions to real-life problems, which is all the more relevant as researchers across the globe have increasing begun to focus their attention through scholarly inquiry of the business and management practices of corporations in India.
