Alliance University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), New Delhi on April 7, 2012 at an event held at the University. Dr. Madhukar Angur, Hon’ble Chancellor, Alliance University signed the MOU with ICSI, New Delhi during the visit of a high level team to the University’s campus, and headed by the President, ICSI, Mr. CS Nesar Ahmed. The Hon’ble Chancellor expressed his deep appreciation at the visit by the team of senior administrators from the ICSI and was equally delighted that the partnership would help in developing high caliber professionals, who will pursue with integrity and passion the promotion of best practices in corporate governance in organizations. The President, ICSI felt it an honor to enter into an MOU with Alliance University—today, counted among the top ten universities in India—and acknowledged it as a leader in the knowledge industry.

The MOU between Alliance University, Bangalore and ICSI, New Delhi covers several programs for practitioners, scholars and students as well as other initiatives to promote higher education, research and exchange related to the disciplines of commerce, finance, management and law. The MOU, while ensuring long lasting partnerships for mutual benefit in the areas of statutory compliance and corporate governance, also, importantly, recognizes the ICSI qualification of a graduate in commerce and law as an equivalent to a postgraduate degree course in these disciplines, thus allowing such graduates to directly enroll for and further pursue a doctoral level (Ph. D.) program at Alliance University. It is envisaged under the MOU that Alliance University will under the aegis of the newly-constituted Alliance College of Commerce, conduct professional courses in company secretary (CS) practice for students and also deliver value-added programs to its key constituents enrolled in the Master of Commerce, Master of Financial Management and Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) courses that will be offered in the academic year 2012-13.
