His Excellency, The Governor of Karnataka and The Visitor of Alliance University, Shri. H.R. Bharadwaj, conferred degree and diploma certificates as well as medals of honor to the graduating students of Alliance School of Business, Alliance University in the presence of the Hon’ble Chancellor, Alliance University, Dr. Madhukar Angur, the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. D. Ayyappa, senior administrators, distinguished guests and faculty members, during the Annual Convocation of the University held on August 4, 2012.

The Annual Convocation of Alliance University was presided over by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri. Jagadish Shettar. Other distinguished guests present at the Annual Convocation included The Minister for Higher Education, Karnataka, and The Pro-Visitor, Alliance University, Shri. C. T. Ravi, members of the State legislature and Dr. P. Selvie Das—an eminent educationist and academician, among others. The graduating students were conferred degrees and diploma certificates at the Annual Convocation upon their successful completion of the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and the Executive Postgraduate Diploma in Management (Executive PGDM) courses.

In his Convocation address, His Excellency, The Governor of Karnataka, applauded the initiatives of Alliance University, its vision and commitment, in furthering excellence in the field of higher education, while emphasizing on the need for more universities both in the State of Karnataka and in the nation as whole that promote and foster world-class standards in teaching, research and community development. His Excellency, The Governor of Karnataka, also alluded to the changing paradigms of global collegiate education worldwide, and the key relevance of universities in building collaborative exchange and partnerships in learning, knowledge and scholarship, globally.

In his address to the graduating students of Alliance University, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, appreciated the highly laudable initiatives of Alliance University in the field of higher education. The Hon’ble Chief Minister also underlined the importance of the advancement of education as the foundation for social advancement, and mentioned that advanced countries of the world are also the most ahead in the field higher education.

The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka called upon the universities to serve as role models for society, and as catalysts that engage not only the immediate community of learners but also reach out to larger sections of society by creating access to opportunities in the field of higher education.

The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka also highlighted the need for universities to promote and foster inclusiveness in education and to ensure that society at large, particularly the less privileged, are cared for by the community of scholars. The Hon’ble Chief Minister stated that higher education in the State of Karnataka is among the top priorities for planners and statesman, and announced that the government has allocated substantial funds from the exchequer to establish and support universities in the State.

In his address to the graduating students, the Hon’ble Chancellor, Alliance University, Dr. Madhukar Angur, congratulated them on their successful completion of academic study and for their accomplishments at the University. The Hon’ble Chancellor addressed the graduating students of the Alliance School of Business as the “founding alumni” of the University and asked them to reflect on how they have, in a sense, created history, and would remain an inseparable part of the legacy of the University.

The Hon’ble Chancellor exhorted the graduating students to take pride in their alma mater, which aims at transforming minds and creating wholesome individuals. He called upon the graduating students to serve as roles models and exemplary social citizens, ever willing to contribute their talents, and who differentiate themselves as enlightened, conscientious and ethical value creators in the wonderful organizations that they have joined. The Hon’ble Chancellor wished the graduating students every success in their professional careers, and noted that their successes are, in effect, University’s success.
