ALLIANCE Advisory Board - a panel of eminent academics from globally ranked business schools, entrepreneurs and industrialists held its quarterly meeting on July 24, 2010 in Bangalore. Dr. Jagdish N. Sheth, Charles H. Kellstadt Professor of Marketing, Goizueta Business School, Emory University, a renowned scholar and world authority in the field of marketing and management, was appointed as the Chair of the ALLIANCE Advisory Board.
As the Chair of the advisory board, Dr. Sheth will provide leadership in achieving the school’s aims and objectives. Dr. Sheth’s endeavor is to work closely with Indian institutions and be instrumental in developing the potential and intellect of Indian students to take advantage of a rising India. In his address, he said, "India will become Asia Centric. Students from all over the world, including China, will come to India in the near future. We have to rise up to our true potential and talents."
Dr. Sheth also emphasized the importance of including liberal art programs in the undergraduate courses. In his view, a study of liberal arts provides a holistic perception that makes students not only better leaders but better individuals.
He added that he is enthused by ALLIANCE's pursuit of excellence and grounded in values. The Institution sees in Dr. Sheth providing necessary leadership towards further enriching student experience to enable Alliance Business School mould managers and leaders that will create value for organizations, society and the country.
Comprised of individuals well known in their respective fields, the Advisory Board provides ALLIANCE's governing body with their expertise and consultation in several areas, including strategic long term planning to promote high standards of academics and research with an increasingly international orientation, and a high level of practical relevance both at the national and global levels.
"We are extremely fortunate to have such accomplished and talented individuals join the Board. We look forward to working with the Advisory Board as we progress toward our quest for knowledge creation and dissemination making ALLIANCE one of the major educational institutions having a significant global footprint," said Dr. Madhukar Angur, Chancellor of Alliance University.
Special attention at the meeting was paid to new programmatic initiatives. By bringing together the different thought leaders on a single platform, ALLIANCE recognizes the real value of assimilation of knowledge-led perspective.
